Electric Power Equipment was established in 1923 in
British Columbia, Canada, and its principal activities have continued to be electrical engineering and manufacturing. Our Head Office is located in Vancouver, BC.  In the 1950's, additional factories, engineering and sales offices, were opened in Edmonton, Alberta.

Switchgear in the 1920's consisted of slate panels with surface-mounted equipment.  Switchgear has always been and continues as a major product-line to this day.

We've manufactured uninterruptible power supply systems and battery power supplies using our own design of saturable reactors or SCR-regulated automatic battery chargers and coordinated solid state inverters with output ratings to 600 kVA.  We've manufactured industrial control panels for power plant and process control requirements.

We have designed and manufactured fire detection systems for a large number of commercial and industrial buildings, and supplied, in co-operation with suppression system suppliers, complete fire detection and suppression systems for industrial applications.  The supply of variable-speed drives for special applications such as ski lifts, plus wire-drawing machines, and others, is one of our specialties.  We've engineered and constructed skid-mounted load centres employing vacuum circuit breakers, load interrupters, and vacuum contactors.

The SWITCHGEAR & APPARATUS Division (SAD) is oriented toward the specialty requirements of high-voltage switchgear.
